Madelyn Grace Herndon is Here!

Madelyn Grace Herndon was born at 10:25pm on August 28th! She is 7 lbs 10 oz. and 20 inches long. Mom labored almost the entire day it was all worth it.
All of her friends have come to meet her including both sets of grandparents. She already feels so well loved!
Mommy and Daddy are home but Maddie Grace was kept in the nursery to be treated for jaundice. We are waiting to hear if she will be able to come home today. Mommy is feeling well. Just a little sore but otherwise feel good.
Many, many more pics to follow.

This is it!!!!
I can't believe the day is finally here. We go into Northside tonight to get induced and Baby Girl will be here tomorrow (cross your fingers). We're packing and repacking our bags, cleaning the kitchen, cleaning the gutters (huh? i know - good question. Im watching Jim out the window now. Not quite sure why he picked that task to do right now... but Im not going to stop him), washing the sheets in the guest room/nursery for mom and dad, washing towels, going thru DVDs to bring to the hospital, paying bills that Ive neglected over the last week and doing my best to relax when I can because Im totally exhausted.
As much as Im ready - I know there are a few things I'll miss about being pregnant. They are:
As much as Im ready - I know there are a few things I'll miss about being pregnant. They are:
- Playing with her little tiny foot as she pokes it out of the top left side of my belly. That has been so much fun the past week or so. Its amazing.
- The special treatment I get being pregnant. Just how helpful Jim has been the past few weeks alone is enough to make me want another one in the near future.
- Meeting other people who are pregnant too and sharing that special bond with them. Its so cool.
- Always having her with me no matter where I go.
Before I get too sad - let's talk about the things I won't miss:
- Everything that comes with having gestational diabetes. (ie: not being able to eat my favorite foods, the insulin shots, the many many doctors appts)
- The WEIGHT! Ugh. I can't stand being this heavy. My joints hurt, my feet hurt... my body was just not made to be this weight and it tells me so every day.
- Not being able to sleep on my back or stomach. Im such a stomach sleeper!!
- No sangrias or margaritas for 10 months!!
So we will be off to the hospital some time tonight and will start the Cervadil as soon as I get there. This might be enough to start labor. If it doesnt - we start the Pitocin tomorrow morning. Mom and Dad (soon to be known as Nana and Pop-Pops in the Herndon House) leave their house tomorrow morning and should arrive in Atlanta some time on Thursday. I can't wait to see them! And Tucker can't wait to see Crosby.
Stay tuned! The next post should be an exciting one!!!

Holy Nesting!
I think I officially know what nesting feels like.
As you know if you read my last tiny post - I was up at 2am last night with heartburn. I think I finally made it back to sleep around 5am. I was waiting for the sun to come up and I don't remember seeing it so I think I fell asleep around then. I woke up at my normal time - 7:30am and have been up ever since. Jim and I ran some errands today and when I got home I realized I was really tired and thought I might be able to take a nap (I have a hard time taking naps in general - particularly since I've been prego). So I lie down on the couch and turn on Grease. Well - Jim has a way of being VERY LOUD when he is doing things around the house and he was coming in and out - in and out- of the livingroom getting various tools and things that he needed for some random chore he's doing (I say random because it has something to do with the A/C unit and collecting the condensation from it.... yeah, boring). The banging of the door was not condusive to napping. So I get my Shape magazine (can you tell I'm dying to get this extra weight off? I am. Im DYING) and head to the bedroom. I shut the door and lie in bed. Well, no sooner do I do that does Jim decide to come into the bedroom and change clothes. Then he decides that he is going to clean out the gutters outside of the bedroom and clean off the roof above the bedroom. I truly appreciate all the work Jim does around the house... but I would have been okay if this project had been put off til tomorrow. So... there was no napping for me.
On to my point. I decided I needed to clean out my closet (including all the shoes I had piled up on the floor of my closet) and my dresser and sort and organize all of my maternity clothes to either be given away or stored. I hate having a messy closet and it was getting a little out of control. Holy smokes! I was like the Tazmanian Devil. In about 2 hours, I took everything out and either folded it or hung it up. I got a storage container for my shoes that will go under our bed and I made a bag full of clothes to give to the church clothes closet. Im so happy! Im totally exhausted and I thought I was going to topple over a few times when I was trying to get myself off the floor... but its done!
I didn't think I would ever really nest because I've been so exhausted and it's been so hot but I think that qualifies.
My next goal is to clean out the fridge. I know my mom won't care - but I can't have my mom see a dirty fridge! Yikes. I'm going to try to do that tomorrow.

I'm officially a Woman of Leisure!
As of about 11am this morning I am officially on maternity leave and it couldn't have come any sooner! I wish I could go to Stone Mountain or the pool or just out somewhere to enjoy it - but its way too hot and Im way too swollen. All I can do at this point is small projects around the house.
We had our last OB appt this morning and I was 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced. Its not much - but its better than nothing which is what I was last Friday when I went in. We got our paperwork for the induction and now we just wait until the hospital calls us on Monday night and tells us there's a bed ready for me!

38 weeks
Woo hoo! Its our last belly pic! We won't be making it to 40 weeks because we decided to get induced at 39 weeks. We'll go into the hospital next Monday night to get things started and Baby Girl Herndon will be born next Tuesday (if all goes well). We are really excited and definitely ready.
I'm glad this is our last week because all of my maternity clothes are too small! You know you're done when you can't even fit into the stretchy maternity pants anymore. I really can't imagine getting any bigger.
Im up to 4-5 shots of insulin a day which sucks. I won't miss that. Im feeling achey and crampy and generally uncomfortable but I think its to be expected at this point. I understand why people start maternity leave a little early. Its hard getting up and getting out every morning to go to work thats for sure. I know I'll enjoy that last paycheck though.
We are taking advantage of our last few nights of being a couple with no kids and went to one of our favorite local restaurants Feast with our friends Lanny and Steffani tonight. We're making an effort to go to our favorite non-kid friendly restaurants this week because we don't know when we'll be back again. We'll hit Watershed and Wahoo before Monday.

37 week appt
I had my 37 week appt today. We had our ultrasound... which was good. Baby Girl is still hanging in there sucking on her fingers and moving around just as she should. The ultrasound said she was measuring at 7 lbs 10 oz (yikes) but the tech said she thought she was more likely around 7 lbs. Either way... we still have two more weeks of growing to do and 8 lbs is big enough for me! I would post a pic of my ultrasound but its even more blurry and hard to make out than last week. Im telling you - we need to start a collection for a new ultrasound machine for my drs office.
I than had my internal exam with my dr and I won't go into details about how unpleasant it was... but Im not dialated at all. My dr did bring up the "i" word (induction) at 39 weeks. I guess its standard for diabetics to get induced at 39 weeks for various medical reasons that all sounded very reasonable. Its up to me and Jim if we want to do it. Im really up in the air about it. Ive always been somewhat against induction because it seems unnatural to force your body into doing something its not ready to do... but there's something very comforting about having a somewhat planned labor. We would also do it on the day my dr will be at the hospital so I will definitely have her delivering me. So... we're thinking about it. I'll keep you posted on what we decide. (Im secretly hoping my body goes into labor between now and then and makes up our mind for us!!!)

37 weeks
3 more to go!
I can't believe it. Things are going okay. Besides the RECORD HEAT WAVE here in Atlanta... things are kind of same ole same ole for us.
I had my NST today and everything was fine. Baby's heartrate was good and she was moving around quite a bit. Only needed cold water today to get her moving (no Diet Coke). I do feel a little guilty doing that - its kind of like chinese water torture or something. She clearly doesn't like it when I wake her up with a nice cold water bath. I hope she doesn't hold it against me when she comes out. No one tell her please!
I think Im officially "nesting." Im not quite as physically tired at night (despite the ridiculous heat) and I just want to clean and straighten up everything (well, more than usual which Im sure is scary to Jim). I'm trying to not go overboard with it and Jim's been understanding so far.
Our neighbors Deliana, Gabe and their 4 month old Sophia came over tonight and dropped off a gift for the baby. It was two footie pajamas and a hat/bib/bootie set. Very cute! We have such great neighbors and I can't wait for our girls to play. They'll be 4 months apart.
I am about to run out of blood test strips. What a bummer. They come in 30-day supply so I guess I have to bite the bullet and buy another 30-days worth. I am secretly hoping to only be pregnant another week or two... but oh well. Im going to have to cough up the $20.
