beach days
Here are a few pics of the girls enjoying our day trip to the beach a few weeks ago. Its so nice to be in driving distance to the beach! Cant wait to get back!

peakfest 2010
well... its 5:30am, Caroline is wide awake... what else is there to do but update the poor lonely blog!
May has been a really busy month! Jim and I have both been traveling a bit for work, we had a few holidays/birthdays, a wedding and lots of adventures thrown in there between.
The Herndons kicked off May with a trip to Peak Fest in downtown Apex. It was a really cute festival with lots of vendors and things to do. We spent most of the time just trying to navigate thru the crowds, but we were able to find the ice cream shop without too many problems.

eating adventures with caroline
She's finally realizing that food can be yummy! She would still much rather chew on the spoon (or anything for that matter) than eat some yummy puree'd bananas but we're getting there.
So far she's tried bananas, sweet potatoes and carrots. I think her favorite so far is carrots. Maddie "helped" her eat the carrots last night and told me how good it was. Maybe I need to start serving baby food to Maddie to get her to eat her veggies!!!

happy mothers day 2010!
We wanted to wish a very Happy Mothers Day to Grammie and Nana. We weren't able to see them today but thought of them often and hope they know how loved they are.
I had a wonderful day here. This was my first Mothers Day as a MommyX2. Jim and Maddie made me homemade waffles in bed complete with whip cream and strawberries and ice coffee (YUM!). After breakfast I went on a nice long run around a beautiful lake nearby. When I got home Jim was packing up a picnic lunch for us and the girls. We went to another lake nearby and had lunch by the lake and then spent some time at the playground. We took a little nap, then were off to a lovely dinner. All in all, a great day!!! Can't wait til the next Mothers Day!

friday playdate
Last Friday we had a playdate with our friend Ryan at a really great park close to our house. Ryan is such a little cutie and is expecting a little sister in just a few months! Caroline is excited for that.
After the park we went for some yummy pizza and "grinders" at Rudinos. YUM!

happy birthday mommy!
I celebrated my birthday yesterday and had to post a few sweet pictures of little Miss Maddie helping me blow out my cake. Maddie and Daddy made my cake all by themselves (Maddie was in charge of the sprinkles) and it was so cute and SO yummy!!!

6 month stats
Baby Caroline had her sixth month check-up this week. She's absolutely perfect - but we knew that of course!
Her stats are:
Weight: 17 lbs 12 ounces (75th percentile)
Height: 26 1/2 inches (75th percentile)
Head Circumfrance: 17 1/4 inches (90th percentile)
Contrary to how these pictures look, she's still not loving solid foods. She was enjoying some sweet potatoes in the pictures below - but really enjoyed playing with the food, spoon and bowl a lot more. We'll keep trying!
Otherwise she's just as sweet as can be. She's an absolutely lovely baby. She slept thru the night for the very first time right around 6 months. She slept straight thru from 7:30pm - 6:00am! She hasnt done it consistently yet, but fingers crossed we get there soon.
We're loving every minute we have with her and can't wait to see what each new day brings!

sleepless in NC
Maddie's been on a bit of a sleep boycott this week. She hasnt been wanting to take naps (while home with Mommy and Daddy- has no problem during the week with the nanny) and gets out of her bed at night and stays up for hours.
Before we gated her door, she would get out of bed, walk out of her room and play in the playroom or in the hallway. We finally had to put the gate up in front of her door so she couldnt escape. I can't get her to stay in bed for the life of me - so until she does - she's a prisoner in her room. She usually just sits on the floor with books and reads to herself. Once she gets tired, she climbs back into bed.
This is what I saw when I walked up the stairs the other night to check on her.
