Caroline's 2 month stats

Caroline just had her two month doctors appointment. She's doing great.

Height: 23.5 inches (90th percentile)
Weight: 12 lbs 6.5 ounces (90th percentile)

She's becoming a little chunky monkey which Im so happy about! When you breastfeed there's always this fear in the back of your mind that you're not providing enough for your growing baby (since you cant see how many ounces she's drinking like with a bottle) but this is proof positive that breastfeeding is exactly how nature intended!

She's not sleeping more than 2-3 hours at a time at night and we're not able to get her down at a "normal" bedtime yet but we're working on it. Im hoping by the time she hits that 3 month mark that her sleeping routine becomes a little more normal. It will also help to be in the new house in her own room.

She's smiling more and starting to coo and make sweet baby noises. Maddie still loves her to pieces and Caroline doesn't seem to mind the constant hugging and attention.

Thats all for now! Laura and Jody are on their way here. We anxiously awaiting their arrival!

this will have to do...

boooo snow!

I SHOULD be posting pictures of Aunt Lola and Uncle Jody here tonight but nooooo... dumb snow had to go and cancel all the flights from Baltimore to Atlanta. They soonest flight Delta could get them on was CHRISTMAS MORNING! Say what? That won't do. So... the poor things are driving tomorrow. 10+ hours! Wow, we are loved and feel lucky to have such great family.

I had our whole week planned. Tonight was homemade southern style pulled pork and our traditional gingerbread house making. I guess we'll have to push all that up by a day.

In the meantime I'll leave you with some pictures of Madster from this week. I really dont have much to say about these... they sort of speak for themselves.

So stay tuned... Aunt Lola and Uncle Jody pics will be on the way soon (fingers crossed!).

maddie's a star

Baby Caroline and I just got back from seeing Madelyn in her very first Christmas program at school... and boy was it cute. I wish I could go to a preschool Christmas program every day.

Maddie and the rest of her class sat on the risers and sang three songs. Only two of the kids melted down and ran to their parents. Im proud to say Maddie sat right up there front and center and sang her little heart out while looking around at all the people! When she saw me in the crowd she just put on a big smile.

Her class is all 2 yr olds, Maddie being the youngest. They're absolutely adorable.

The kids standing behind them are in the next class up and you can see by their costumes that they were the players in the nativity scene which was up next.

I wish I could go to a preschool Christmas program/pageant every day. It would help me forget about the craziness of life and focus on what's important- thats for sure!

santa visit... unsuccessful

Last Saturday, we tried taking Maddie and Caroline to see Santa and get their pictures taken. It was very unsuccessful. Maddie was curious to see Santa in the flesh, but did NOT, I repeat did NOT want to go anywhere near him. She wouldn't even stand in line.

We did get to see one of Maddie's very best friends Addie-boo (Maddie and Addie's old teacher Ms. Monica used to call Addie "Addie-boo" and it stuck. Now everyone calls her that including her parents) at the mall. She actually went up on Santa's lap for a picture (but no smiles of course). Unfortunately seeing Addie-boo's pictures didn't persuade Maddie to give Santa a try.

arent they sweet?
Jim trying to persuade M in vain
We even tried to bribe her with "chik-a-lay"
The best pic we could get that day

So we had to make do with our picture of the girls in front of JCPenney. Im thinking we might try to go to the mall again some day during the week and see if she's feeling a little more brave. If not, maybe Caroline will have her picture alone with the big guy.

Maddie and I decided to make our Christmas list for Santa today. We went thru the Toys R Us circular and she picked out toys for me to cut out. I thought she would just point to any and everything she saw and claim she wanted it all - but she was surprisingly picky an dpicked out only things that I think she really would be want! I really didn't contribute at all to her selections.

The list!

Her list included:

  • A dollhouse
  • A Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
  • An Elmo doll (no Laura, dont get it. its way too expensive!!!)
  • A lego table
  • A princess dollhouse
  • A changing table for her baby dolls
  • A guitar
  • A "chicken" (aka: kitchen)

Im not sure how Santa will know what she wants since she wouldnt sit on his lap and tell him. We'll have to leave it for him on Christmas Eve and hope he has what she wants in his sleigh!

this is why you send your child to sunday school...

Because they come home like this.

Maddie learned about shepards today at Sunday School Im assuming (although she told me she was a pirate). I had to grab my camera before she took it off hence the vaccuum cord on the floor.

Maddie has the best Sunday School teachers (and Im not just saying that because one of them reads this blog). Im always so excited to see what she'll come home with each week. They do such a great job.

Last week Maddie came running to me with this in her hands saying, "Mommy... Ive got Baby Jesus!"

Here she is holding Baby Jesus under the tree.

So cute. Im keeping this stuff forever.

impromptu christmas shoot #2

I mentioned how hard it was to get a picture of these two at least both looking at the camera, right? Ive been trying to keep the camera handy in case we find ourselves in a Kodak moment and the girls were looking so cute in their sorta-kinda matching Carters outfits. Maddie's wearing an outfit from Grammie, and Caroline's sporting hers from Nana. Grandmothers sure do have good taste!

Maddie and Daddy get silly
Our beautiful girl!
This is what we got when we said, "hold her head!"

Wow, does some one need a haircut and its not Caroline

Our third photoshoot was actually successful so I won't post any of those pictures sice that will ruin all the suspense of the Christmas Card Photo! We're actually doing a combined birth announcement and Christmas card since I would be sending them out at about the same time to exactly the same people. Seemed pretty silly to send two cards with pictures of my kid(s) within weeks of eachother. Not sure why I felt the need to explain that, but there ya go... now ya know.

HOpe everyones enjoying this holiday season! I might not have been ready for it before Thanksgiving - but Im gung-ho now. We actually went to the mall this morning (and the girls looked absolutely adorable in coordinating outfits) and Maddie wanted NOTHING to do with the big man. Not a crying picture, not a picture with me in it... the kid didnt even want to stand in line! So... no Santa picture yet this year. Im hoping maybe we can bring her back this or next week and try again. Fingers crossed!

this morning...

This morning, Maddie and I were playing in her room before school. She started walking out of her room and turned around and pointed to me and said, "Mommy, stay here. I need to go get my coffee."

our big news...

After 8 wonderufl years in the Peach State...we've decided to pack up and move to North Carolina! Let's just say our renovation didn't go as planned and in the meantime, things lined up for the both of us work-wise to move up to the Raleigh area. We're happy to be closer to family and we've already got some friends up there so we're hoping we'll feel just as at home up there as we do here.

We've bought a house! Here she is!

Houses were much more affordable in NC than what we were seeing here in Atlanta and we were able to get everything we wanted and needed. We're so excited to have more space. The girls will have a playroom and even a playset in the backyard!

Our move date is January 15th... we hope you'll all come visit us in our new house! In the meantime, if you know of anyone looking for a charming 2 bed/2 bath bungalow in downtown Decatur, let me know!
