another visit with Maddie's future husband
Our trip last weekend concluded with a really great visit with our friends Louis, Hilary and Harrison. We hadnt seen them in a year and were so excited that our paths were crossing for a few days in SC. We rented a great condo at Isle of Palms... and its a good thing is was so nice because we spent the entire time inside! It was FREEZING and rained the entire time we were there... but we were happy to have great company and made the most of it.
So here he is. Is he not the cutest little thing you've ever seen (next to Maddie of course)? His cheeks have gotten a little smaller (which I was bummed about) since last year but he's still got it.
Wild Dunes Resort

So I think that about concludes our Beach Trip 2009. There are a few random pictures Ive got on another camera, but I think you've got the jist. We had a great time and I honestly can't wait to go back.
Maddie turns 21 months today! Time is going by way too fast. She's growing up right before our eyes. She is putting words together now and talking in sentences... loves to sing songs and play games. Its adorable.
I've got some pictures from this week I'll try to get off my camera and post tomorrow. Night night!

We had a LOT of indoor time with the kids, so we played music, danced, played with toys, watched Handy Manny (ok, Hilary and I watched Handy Manny) etc etc. The dance parties we had were my favorite activity. Harry's got some serious dance moves. Here he is cutting the rug to Coldplay while Maddie looked on in awe.
Woop woop
Here are a few pictures from our balcony. I think I stood out there for a total of 2 minutes just to get a few pictures when it stopped raining. We did get a pretty sunset the night before we left. Too bad the next morning was cloudy and rainy again! Oh well, I guess we'll just have to go back.

And here's a shot from our post-bath wrestling session. Yes, Maddie has Harry pinned.

waiting to skype...
Yes folks, M is a product of a technologically sophisticated generation. Our latest "thing" is skyping family we don't get to see often. I got a laptop for my birthday that has a webcam and we quickly set up a skype account so we could videochat with Aunt Jen, Uncle Bubba and Cousin Tay Tay. Maddie LOVES it. In fact, whenever i have my laptop out she says, "Where's Tay Tay?"
So here she is waiting for Tay and Jen to respond to our call request while we were at the beach. Cute, huh?
If you have a skype account and want to chat sometime -look us up. We're "listed."

last beach day...boo
We made the best of our very last day at the beach. The weather turned out great, so we hit the beach again and then had some yummy lunch at the pool bar. Maddie ate the entire grilled cheese sandwich herself. Ive never seen her eat so much! She really enjoyed sitting in the big girl chair (they didnt have high chairs or booster seats) watching the swimmers below.
After lunch we got cleaned up, took a nice long nap, then headed to the golf course to pick up Daddy. Daddy played the best golf of his life on Sunday, so he was in a pretty good mood. I wish I had taken pictures of all the Apex golfers doting after little Maddie in the clubhouse. At one point, one of the guys took her outside and walked her around the grass. Then Grandaddy got ahold of her and they took a nice long stroll around the putting green. She even had her very first ride in a golf cart which of course- she LOVED. She kept saying, more, more more.
Once Daddy settled up his winnings, we drove down to Isle of Palms to meet up with our friends Hilary, Louis and little Harrison (remember Harry?? Maddie's arranged husband?). It doesnt get much cuter than the two of them together. I seriously wanted to steal him and take him home with me. Pictures in the next post...

note sent home from maddie's teacher...
it reads,
"Maddie really enjoyed tickling Noel on the playground this morning. I think Noel enjoyed it too because he grabbed her hand and kissed it! It was too cute!"
We might need to have a little conversation with Noels parents soon...

beachcombing
The best time to be at the beach is sunset. After dinner we walked with Grandad up and down the beach and explored. Ahhh... I would come here every weekend if I could!

beach babe day two
Day Two at the beach.
She's still not loving the sand, or water, or really anything about the beach at this point, but she's giving us her best effort. Jims been out playing golf during the day, so its just me and Maddie until he comes home at night. Here's the obligatory self-portrait.
For the first half hour or so, she wanted nothing to do with getting sandy. Didnt want to stand or sit in the sand... even sitting on the towel didnt seem appealing. Here she is sitting in my chair "playing" in the sand.
She eventually gave into my coaxing and played a little. She actually went and sat about 40 feet away from me just looking at the ocean with her hands in the sand. I had to zoom in to get this shot.
Mr. Lifeguard eventually came back and she immediately perked up. Here she is ummm...not-so-discreetly checking him out. I need to give her the rules on checking out the lifeguard. Dark colored sunglasses a must. I didnt think Id need to start so young!

wish you were here!
Greetings from the beach!
We're having a blast at the beach. Im posting while Maddie's sleeping so I'll have to make this short and sweet. We're here at Myrtle for Jims annual golf tournament and having a blast. We wish the sun was actually out more but... on the bright side, at least we dont have to worry about getting burned!
Grammie came down for the day yesterday and Maddie was in heaven. We had fun playing in the sand and in the kiddie pool and then out for some yummy seafood at Calabash. Enjoy the pics! More to come!

celebrations and just life around the house...
We've been busy around here with a birthday, mothers day, teacher appreciation week, etc etc... the list goes on and on. On top of it all we are attempting a vacation this week and Im super duper busy at work (of course!). There's even a slight chance I could get wisked from the beach to Alaska for a meeting that supposedly Im the only person who can facilitate (ugh). Im just trying not to think of that right now. No use worrying, right?
So I had a great birthday last weekend. Jim and Madelyn made me "breakfast on couch" because I got out of bed too early. Banana pancakes... yummy. Check out Tucker just waiting for his chance to pounce on those pancakes!
I caught a few pics of Maddie this week while we were out and about exploring outside. She loves sidewalk chalk and even loves wearing the chalk bucket on her arm like a little purse.
Here she is looking at bugs on the sidewalk. She's very into pointing them out and trying to "catch" them.
Thats it for now! Not much time to post these days. Hope all the moms had a wonderful Mothers Day. I have a few big deadlines at work but then we're off to the beach for a long weekend. If I can just get thru Wednesday morning - I'll be one happy camper! :)

mondays....
This is what Maddie thinks of Mondays.
Just kidding. She was actually singing and was just really into it. Funny, huh? I think it was ABCs...
