PREGNANCY Q &A

Q: Should I have a baby after 35?
A: No, 35 children is enough.

Q: I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?
A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.

Q: What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex?
A: Childbirth.

Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she's borderline irrational.
A: So what's your question?

Q: My childbirth instructor says it's not pain I'll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right?
A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.

Q: When is the best time to get an epidural?
A: Right after you find out you're pregnant.

Q: Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labor?
A: Not unless the word "alimony" means anything to you.

Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth?
A: Yes, pregnancy.

Q: Do I have to have a baby shower?
A: Not if you change the baby's diaper very quickly.

Q: Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again?
A: When the kids are in college .

Happy Birthday to ME!!!!

Look what I came home to today! Better late than never when it comes to Jelly Belly Birthday presents! Thanks Auntie Lorla... you're the best. You sure do know how to make a pregnant woman happy!

Look what else I came home to! Our crib arrived! It came a good 2 weeks earlier than I thought it would. We got a great deal on it online (no taxes and free shipping... quite the steal) and the customer service and speed of order and delivery was outstanding. We haven't actually opened the box yet, so hopefully everythings there and in one piece.

I guess we really don't have a reason not to start on the nursery. We're going to prime the walls this weekend and we'll see what else we get to. Maybe we'll paint the green walls as well. It'll be really exciting to set up the crib and see it with the bedding. I guess we need to buy a mattress for that - don't we? Hmm, so many things to keep track of!

Twins?? Im not THAT big, am I?

I was at the Wendy's drive-thru yesterday getting my colleague and I a drink before a meeting, and the drive-thru guy asked when I was due. I was a little surprised that he could even tell from his angle and distance that I was pregnant.

I said September and he said, "Wow, you got twins in there?"

Ummm... am I THAT big?

New Camera... Yay!

We got our new camera today from Sony!! We're excited because our old one was starting to take blurry pictures and it was really starting to be a bummer when we'd come back from great trips and have blurry pictures to show!

Its the Sony W90. It has decent ratings and has a lot more bells and whistles than our old camera. 8.1 megapixels which is much more than we'll ever need ( I think our old one was 3 megapixels)

Should be great for taking pictures of Baby Girl Herndon.

Future Daddy Talk

I'm fairly certain Jim doesn't read this blog so I think I'm safe talking about this on here...

I just overheard the cutest thing. Jim is talking to one of his college buddies on the phone who is also having a baby and I think I overheard him say "Pottery Barn Kids." It just tickled me that I think the two of them are talking about crib bedding. :)

I'm so happy Jim's the father of my child. He's going to make an amazing daddy.

Now no one tell him I wrote this or I'll be in big trouble! ;)

6 months down...

3.5 months to go!

Look at this belly! I have really grown the past few weeks and am starting to feel pretty big! I know I'll get much bigger, but wow... its amazing to watch your own body transform this way.

Here I am at 24 weeks!

Sorry the picture is blurry. We're waiting for our new digital camera to get shipped to us any day now.

I am feeling pretty good although I'm really feeling heavier and that I can't move around quite as easily as I once could. I did the Susan G. Komen Walk this weekend in Atlanta with my friend Steffani and although I felt great during the walk - I was completely exhausted the rest of the day. I made it to Lowes to shop for paint, and spent the rest of the day on the couch with my feet up.

My ankles disappear between about 1pm -10pm every day. Its depressing. Walking does help with the circulation a bit, but unfortunately I dont get a chance to walk around much during the day. Im stuck behind a desk. I try to get some exercise when I get home. I need to take advantage of these amazing temperatures in the evenings before its too hot to walk even at night!

Other than the swelling and just getting a little slower getting around- I feel really good. Baby Herndon is punching and kicking daily just like she should be. Jim thinks he felt her once on my belly - but Im not sure if he just said that because I was so excited to have him feel her. Im hoping he'll feel her again soon. I think he will - her movements are becoming bigger and more pronounced every day.

I go for my glucose screening test on Wednesday. Even though I've been eating lots of sweets lately, I still think my glucose levels will be fine. Cross your fingers for me! If my levels are too high in this test - I have to go for a three hour screening.

Thanks for checking in!

Our escape to Seabrook Island and Charleston

This isn't babynews... but its blogworthy I think!

Jim and I had a wonderful getaway to Seabrook Island and Charleston, SC. Jim knows my favorite place to be is the beach, so he took Tucker and I to a beautiful place called Seabrook Island - about 20 minutes from downtown Charleston for a birthday present. We spent most of the weekend on the island on the beach - but went to Charleston on Sunday afternoon to see the sights and have dinner. It was really beautiful. Here are a few pics. There is a link to the entire album to the right.

22 weeks!

We've hit the 22 week mark!! Only 18 weeks to go! It's starting to go by really quickly now. I'm feeling movements every day - but they're still not consistent. They just feel like little bubbles and flutters. The dr said thats just about right. I can't wait until Jim can feel her kicks from the outside. My belly is getting BIG! I can't believe its going to keep growing for another 18 weeks! Yikes!

We did the trek to Babies R Us on Saturday and registered. Wow... that was an event. Let me just tell you - it wasn't quite as fun as the wedding registry. We didn't know how anything worked, which baby monitor was better than the next, if the diaper champ or the diaper genie was better, do we NEED a diaper genie? .... it was an experience. Jim just liked that he got to use a gun again. We did well and picked most of our important items. I have no idea where we're going to put all this stuff! Our house is so tiny with no storage!

We also got our bedding this week! Its so cute. Here is a pic. I think we're going to paint the walls "artichoke green." Runner up is "tag sale yellow."
