backyard fun with the fam

We had a few days where the temps got above 50 and of course, the New Englanders felt like it was balmy, so we all went out to the backyard and Maddie showed them her prayground.

I had to post this... Jim coming down the slide

We're so ready for warm temps (real warm temps, not 50). This winter has seemed really long and with the move and all the change we've had this year, I think warm temps will help us get back into our groove. We're not used to not being able to get outside and walk, run, hike, etc. There's also a lot to explore here in NC and we're antsy to get out there and discover it!

I think this weekend we're going to try to hit a park today and maybe a new church in the morning.

a visit from the fam

We just said goodbye to Nana, Pop Pops, Aunt Jen Jen and Taylor and we had such a great time with them. They came to visit us in our new home in North Carolina and meet Baby Caroline for the very first time!!! I've got lots of pictures to share but will just post a few at a time.

Before their arrival, Maddie and I made chocolate covered strawberries (since it was Valentines Day after all!) for them. Maddie loves to help cook and loved cooking with chocolate even more.

Baby Caroline supervised from her exersaucer...

After a long day of waiting... they finally arived around 5pm! Maddie took her spot promptly on Jen Jens lap!

Lots more pictures to come!

maddie's prayground

Its been pretty cold and snowy or rainy since we've been here in NC, but we have had a few mild days where we were able to play in the backyard and enjoy Maddie's new playset!

She calls is "Maddie's Prayground" (aka playrgound). She was pretty timid on it the first time we played, but the second time... she was all over everything!!!!

Look at this trick!

Happy Girl!

Down the slide

It was windy!

Even Tuck liked the wind on his face

Cute

Yes, she can climb to the top by herself

We are adjusting to our new pad, but we miss Decatur and Atlanta a lot! Jim is headed down to Decatur tomorrow to close on our house on Wednesday. I hope he picks me up some Taqueria del Sol and maybe a Dancing Goats Ice Coffee on this way home!

time for a big girl bed!

Maddie got a new house, and a new room so we figured it was time for a new bed! A big girl bed!!! Grammie and Grandad bought it for her and even delivered it right to her bedroom last week!

After Daddy and Grandad figured out the bedrail (complete with nightlight and cup holder), she took it for a test drive.

I think it helped that Grammie and Grandad were involved- it made it that much more exciting for her. Here she is testing it out with them.

She's done excellent with the transition. She wanted to nap in her crib a few times after we set up the bed, but she's been in the BGB ever since! We've even be able to leave her in there with a few books and she puts herself to sleep. Its amazing.
Check out the excitement on that face!

Next step? Getting Baby Caroline into Maddie's old crib. She's slept in the crib the past few nights but she's still getting up to eat every 2-3 hours so after my second trip into her room I usually bring her into our room. Once she starts sleeping 4-5 hour stretches in there - I'll be one happy mommy!

snow day!

We were welcomed to North Carolina this week with a snow storm! We knew it was coming (how can you not with weathermen these days) so we were well stocked with cold weather rations and I even bought Maddie some boots (since she didnt have any living in Atlanta) in preparation.

Our house

We bundled the girls up and braved the cold. It was really cold. Like 18 degrees cold.

Caroline says, "say what?"

Maddie wasn't quite sure what to make of it. If you know Maddie, you know she's a little timid in general so she wasn't too fond of not being able to walk in the stuff and being cold on top of it.

More cuteness

Maddie played for a little bit, but I'll be honest- it took us a lot longer to get ready to go outside than the time we actually spent outside. I can't say I blame Maddie though, it was too cold for me too.

One person (because you know he considers himself one) who did enjoy the snow? Tucker. This picture below is a crappy one of the house because I had it on an indoor setting- but I had to include it to show you the blur of fur that is Tucker sprinting through the front yard. He got the crazies as soon as we let him out. Im glad some one enjoyed it!

We had a few exciting events this week which include a big-girl bed that I'll post about soon.

baby caroline is 3 months old!

Our sweet baby girl is 3 months old! She's such an angel. She's so smiley and coos and talks now.

Not sure how much she weighs or her length because she hasnt been weighed recently, but she's getting bigger, thats for sure. She's got nice chunky legs like her big sister had.

She lifts her head up really well and is thinking about rolling over, but not quite there yet.

She has yet to sleep through the night, and is still up every 2-3 hours to eat at night so... yeah, Im pretty tired. I could use a spa weekend. :) HA, yeah I know, 18 years from now... right?

move in day!

FInally getting around to uploading pictures from my camera. This week has been crazy, to put it mildly. Lots and lots to do and the days seem to be getting shorter and shorter. I either need about 8 more hours in a day, or a mini-me. If you can get me either one, let me know.

Here are a few pictures from move-in day. Just a few... I was busy taking care of Caroline and directing the men with the big heavy furniture.

Caroline checking out her room. You know I can't wait to paint that ugly blue color.

Maddie checking out her chalkboard to make sure it works.

Tent (or castle as she calls it) time after a bath.

We're all adjusting to our new home. Tuckers not sure where to go... upstairs, downstairs... he's doing his best to keep an eye on everyone. He's actually taken a liking to the front bedroom. When we can't find him, he's usually in there by himself. I guess he's just needing some quiet time.

More pictures are on their way.

house is sold!

Great news!

We just went under contract this morning with our Decatur house.... so we only owned two houses for a few days. Woo hoo!

We're currently trying to figure out how we'll negotiate getting back down to ATL with the kids but we'll manage. We've managed everything else in this crazy process somehow!

I promise, I'll take some time to upload pictures soon.
