Caroline's first day at Primrose

Caroline started at a new school this week. I have to say it was really wonderful having her home for a few months.  It made me realize how little she still is and how valuable it is for her to be able to spend quality one on one time with her family.

She's starting in Pre-K but still has two years until she starts kindergarten. Primrose has two pre-k classes and she will rotate into the other one next year.  The big news is that she wears a UNIFORM!!  Cuteness squared is what it is.

She even gets a special Primrose backpack!!!

She was excited on the first day and wanted to walk in by herself.  Of course... You have to enter a 6 digit code to get in the door...so she couldn't have gotten very far on her own.

She was greeted with a few friendly faces.  Our neighbor Gavin is in her class and ran right up to her when she walked in.

She dug right in with some puzzles as soon as she got there and didn't miss a beat. Love this girl.

To celebrate a successful first day we went out to dinner where she whooped Daddy at checkers. ;)

All in all a good start!!

perfect Saturday project

Perfection. Best 4.99 I have spent in awhile.

slumber party time!

When Daddy goes away for the weekend, the girls get to have a slumber party in mommy and daddy's room! We eat popcorn, drink Grunch Punch (lime sherbet and sprite) and watch any movie they want in our bed.  After the movie, we all get to sleep together in the same bed. Woo hoo! Yay for slumber parties!

nana and pop pops visit!!

We were so lucky to have Nana and Pop Pops visit for two weeks this summer. We had loads of fun and I'm pretty sure we thoroughly wore them out.

We went to New Bern

To the NC History museum where PopPops and the girls learned how to make turpentine.

We went to the birthplace of Pepsi where Caroline had her first Pepsi float.

And saw some beautiful boats.

We enjoyed a few trips to our pool.

And of course loved on the Croz.

Hope you all will come back and visit soon!

First Day of 1st Grade

Yes, this post is a tad late but it's still worth documenting right? We had a fun filled 4 weeks off with visits from family and friends and lots and lots of time spent at the pool.

Maddie started 1st grade at the end of July.

She has a few of her old friends in her class and lots of new friends.  So far I think it's a lot more work (and less play time) so we're adjusting. Mom and Dad are also adjusting to more homework. Yikes!!

Here she is with her new teacher Mrs. Ebner!

Caroline starts at a new preschool after Labor Day.  She's been excited about it so we'll see how the day goes. And let's hope I get to posting those pics before she starts kindergarten!

Saturday morning

What a wonderful day today! I got up early and ran 10 miles on a beautiful clear and cool morning.

Came home to gifts from the girls. Maddie made me this.

"I love mom. She is the prettiest. She is my superstar. She will always be mine." And then there was a math quiz just to make sure Im smart enough.

Maddie got a rainbow loom from a fried for her birthday and they've been all the rage around here. Even Caroline can do it with some help.

The girls picked out the colors and did the patterns themselves.  Caroline's on the left, Maddies on the right.

Happy Days!!

Happy Birthday America!

Another fabulous and fun 4th for the Herndon girls this year. We loved downtown Raleigh's 4th celebration and ended the day at Grammie and Grandads for a cook out and sparklers!

The girls even got to march in a parade!
