hello spring!

Yes, spring has arrived here in North Carolina. No, thats not snow... or sugar... or sand... its the flowers from those trees. This is my parking lot at work. Crazy, huh? Can't imagine why my allergies are going nuts!

a walk in the woods...

A few weeks ago we took a walk in the woods with some friends. We were quite the spectacle... 5 moms with 2 kids each. We pretty much took over those woods. Here are 4 of the 5 walkers. The 4 others were either strapped onto a mom or in a stroller. It was a little crazy but at least our kids were getting some fresh air and getting their wiggles out.

maddie's flowergirl debut!

Maddie had the honor of being a flowergirl this weekend at our friends Joe and Heathers wedding! It was such an exciting and beautiful day for everyone! Jim was a groomsman and we really enjoyed being a part of their special day.

Maddie had no idea what a wedding was. We tried to explain to her what would be happening, but I think the only thing she really grasped was that Miss Heather was going to be dressed like a princess in a big white dress. We did everything we could to make sure the day went off without a hitch... HA! Our babysitter bailed on us last minute, and Maddie decided not to take a nap... so we just rolled with it. Ms Mariel SAVED the day and watched Baby Caroline while Mommy and Maddie headed off to the chapel.

Yes... THE Chapel. Duke Chapel that is. I dont think she even noticed how big it is.

The flowergirls were the groomsmens daughters... and yes, they were super duper cute. We weren't sure how it would all work out as you have to be prepared for anything with a 2 year old, a 3 year old and a 5 year old. Emma (the oldest) was an old pro at this and definitely kept the little ones calm. It was adorable.

Here they are right before Heather was walking down the aisle. Notice how happy the other girls were... and the look on Maddie's face? Dont worry, she perked up. Oh, did I mention she fell asleep the entire ride from the house to the Chapel? She was still a little groggy.

Heather looked beautiful. Her colors were black and white with yellow accents. VERY classy... very sophisticated. I absolutely loved her veil. It was cathedral length and laid beautifully on her train.

All four walked down the aisle like pros and then sat with their mommy's during the ceremony. They were all great. We (the mommies) let out a HUGE sigh of relief!

And here we are after the ceremony.

Beautiful, right?

disney princess run 2011

Mommy just got back from completing her second Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon down in Orlando. I had done it a few years back with Steff and knew I had to do it again.

This year a friend from high school met me down there and we went to a few parks on Saturday afternoon. We rode the Aerosmith roller coaster and Tower of Terror and then hit Epcot.

At Epcot we met Donald and MULAN! Mulan was very cool. We had a margarita in Mexico, some champagne in France and then had a yummy sushi dinner in Japan.

Sunday morning I was up BRIGHT and early to make the race start. I didnt bring a camera along the race, but Holly did capture a couple of me at the finish. The race itself is just a blast. I think there were 12,000 runners this year and I have to say that at least half were dressed in some sort of princess costume. I decided to go costume-less this year... maybe I'll find a tiara for next year.

I finished in 2:06:56. Not a personal record, but close. I wish I had known I was doing so well, or I might have tried for a sub 2 hour time. I stopped and took pictures along the way with characters and stopped for more water than I probably needed. I knew I just wanted to have fun on this run - but Im thinking I probably could have had fun AND gotten a PR at the same time. Oh well... next year.

Yes, Im definitely doing it again next year! Im already counting down the days.
